The Water Rail is a scarce breeder in Norway, but during autumn and winter many birds arrive to spend the cold months in the southwest. These birds probably originate east and southeast of Norway. During the Water Rail-count in Hordaland county the winter 2000/2001 more than a hundred birds were recorded. This bird is one of them, from Bergen in western Norway 17 January 2001.
