Adult male Ruff in Verdal, Nord-Trondelag, May 2007. The Scandinavian Ruff-population is in decline. In the Norwegian red list of threatened species is has been put in the category DD (Data Deficient), despite knowledge about the heavy decline (especially in southern Norway). Today Ruffs are absent from many traditional lek grounds.
