There are about 60 records of Surf Scoters in Norway. Most of them have been found in southwestern or middle Norway. Shallow waters and concentrations of other Melanitta species seems to be of importance for the occurence of Surf Scoters. This adult male has wintered at Lista in Vest-Agder county for some years now, and the photo was taken on 7th of March 2004.
