Two-barred Crossbill
Loxia leucoptera

The Two-barred Crossbill influx is still going strong in western Norway. In Hordaland county alone more than 300 birds have been recorded so far during August. Today, 18 August 2002, about ten birds sat in a pine forest foraging on immature cones. Beneath the trees the ground was covered with crossbill-handled cones (see the two lower pictures). The pictures are from Toft in Øygarden.
