Adult summer
Larus argentatus argentatus
Spring (April?) 1997
Haugesund, Rogaland, Norway

It's hard to judge if the black spots near the gonys are just dirt or a sign of immaturity, but otherwise this bird represents a classical adult L. a. argentatus. The amount of black in the primaries is typical, including a narrow band on p6 but nothing on p5. Quite a few adults of the ssp. argentatus show much less black in the primaries than this one.
